Voicethread

A voicethread allows you to upload pictures or videos and then add comments by recording your voice, typing text, or drawing (doodling).
  1. Use your cantoncentral.org email account to register at voicethread.com.
  2. Upload pictures and/or videos that tell a story of your immigration.
  3. Comment on your pictures using a mic, text, or drawing.
  4. When your voicethread is ready, you can share it in two ways: either email the link to Mr. Chamberlain (doug@cantoncentral.org) to add to the blog, or click "Copy link and Share," then paste the link into your blog post (if you make one, see below).
  5. In your blog post, type a description of your voicethread, highlight the description, and then click the link icon. Paste your voicethread link (replacing the http://).

Creating a voki



Go to www.voki.com to create your voki.

If you register (use your cantoncentral.org account), you will be able to create new scenes for your voki.

Note the face, background, and voice that you use if you want to be consistent throughout your posts. You may also want to use vokis representing other members of the family for certain posts.

With these words, immigrants have been bidden to come to the United States.

Your goal is to provide a glimpse into the experience of those immigrants.

Tasks:
  1. Gather pictures and/or videos from your research. Follow the instructions under "Voicethread" to organize your pictures/videos and add comments via voice, text, or drawings.
  2. (Optional) Create a voki with features and accent of your immigrant. You may use either voice to text or record your own voice. Use your cantoncentral.org email account to register. Follow the instructions under "Creating your voki."
  3. (Optional) Either create a blog or create a post for this blog using your cantoncentral.org email account (you need to register using that email address and let Mr. Chamberlain know you want access). Send your the link to your blog or ask for permission to add a post.
  4. In your post, add your voki and your voicethread along with any other items you would like to share.
